I keep thinking of the quote from Gandhi, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” And then I thought of Dumbledore and thought, we really need to remember that we are that light.
We can’t just turn on a light. We need to be the light in a dark world.
Today, I am trying in some small way to work towards that which I believe in by planning my storytime for tomorrow – and thereby providing early literacy for children in a minority, low-income community. And I am also working on outreach interviews for the bilingual community to find out ways the library can better serve the Spanish-speaking community. I want people to know that there are others out there who value them and support them – I want them to know that I value and support them. I can’t change the world, but I can do my small part.
